Thanks to everyone who made it out to the Buffalo Brewfest, and made the event such a success. We're looking forward to next year.

We need your help to spread the word about Oktoberfest. You can download and print the Oktoberfest flyer here. Print out a few copies to hang up at work, school, anywhere that people will see them. Every little bit helps.

See you next Saturday.

Picnic on the Plaza IV: Oktoberfest

Second annual Oktoberfest to be held at Central Terminal

Buffalo, New York September 13th, 2006: The Central Terminal Restoration Corporation (CTRC) is very pleased to announce that it is sponsoring Picnic on the Plaza IV: Oktoberfest on Saturday, September 23rd from 6pm to midnight at the Central Terminal on 495 Paderewski Drive in Buffalo. There will be a $5 admission fee at the door with all proceeds going towards the continued preservation and restoration of the Central Terminal.

In true German tradition, Oktoberfest is planned as close as possible to the first day of autumn, September 21st. Can’t make it to Munich this year? Celebrate right here in Buffalo! Enjoy a slice of Germany in our very own biergarten in the main concourse! Food, authentic German beers, soft drinks, and official Central Terminal merchandise will be available for purchase. Entertainment will be provided by Western New York’s most popular German band, The Frankfurters!

Come out and have a beer, dance a polka or two, or just enjoy an evening with friends!

The Central Terminal Restoration Corporation was founded in 1997. It’s mission is to preserve the historic 1929 New York Central train terminal on Buffalo’s East Side and help restore it to it’s former prominence in Buffalo’s architectural landscape. The CTRC is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that sponsors several public events and tours each year to support the continued preservation of this important landmark.

Model Train Show a Huge Success!

The first annual Buffalo Central Terminal Model Train Show was a huge success! The Terminal was flooded with train enthustiasts, model railroad buffs, and lots of families all day long. We're still tallying up the proceeds from the event, but we already know it's way beyond our expectations!

The 2007 show is being expanded to two days to accomodate more vendors and layouts. The dates are tentatively scheduled for September 8th and 9th. Vendors and visitors - mark your calendars!

A huge thanks to all the vendors for taking the leap of faith in participating in our first ever show. Equally huge thanks to all the CTRC volunteers who worked nonstop throughout yesterday's show to handle the unexpectedly large crowd. Finally, a very special thanks to Beverly Mruk and Mark Lewandowski who had been planning this event for over a year and trekked out to many of the upstate New York train shows and stores to promote this event. Without their diligence and extremely hard work, this event wouldn't have been nearly as big a success! Thank you!

Model Train Show This Sunday!!

Well, after almost a year of soliciting vendors and model train clubs, CTRC members Beverly Mruk and Mark Lewandowski (board member) have pulled off what is destined to be the biggest model train show in Western New York!

At last count, we will have 122 model train and train-related vendors plying their wares in the concourse. We'll also have a few train layouts on display, in areas of the concourse recently readied and reopened to the public for this event.

This is a must-see event for model train hobbyists and railfans alike, as it is showcased in one of the most beautiful art deco train terminals in the nation. Besides all the thousands of items of train memorabilia, there will also be food, beverages and official CTRC merchandise.

We've worked very hard on this show and are really excited to bring it to you! It runs from 10am to 4pm this Sunday September 10th, at the Central Terminal at 495 Paderewski Drive (off Fillmore Avenue). Admission is $5 at the door. This is a perfect family outing, so bring the kids and your wallet!
