Cruise Into the Past Car Show

Well, you can plan, you can hope that things will go well, and you can adapt when things don't go according to plan. And that's what we did this Saturday, when the dark clouds and persistent rain threw a curveball into our classic car show on the plaza.

Thanks to Ozzie, Rick, Dave and all the guys and gals with the Lakeside Classic Cruisers and East Side Car Club, for rounding up some really nice cars to display in the main concourse! While we didn't have as many cars as nicer weather would have attracted, we did have some fine examples of automotive design to display against the magnificent backdrop of the concourse. By all accounts present, seeing the cars inside the building was more of a treat than if we had shown them outside! It was always our plan to feature 5 or so cars inside, but having nearly 20 of them in there was a thrill!

We had a steady crowd of about 500 people who braved the occasional pouring rain to see the cars and find out more about the 15 or so non-profit groups on hand to discuss the great work they are doing on behalf of our great city!

I'd sincerely like to thank my CTRC family: Kate, Sara, Adrienne, Amanda, Derek, Tracy, Bill, Mark, MJ, Bev, Jim, Ed, Gary, Joan, Roger, Nathan and Tom for your help in adapting this event into something unusual and enjoyable.

I'd also like to thank Gladys and crew with the Citizens for Regional Transit Corporation, Michelle and Ken from Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Chris and crew from Corpus Christi, Pat from Graycliff, Todd from Buffalo Tours, Amy from Revitalize Buffalo, Marti from Old Home Week, Paulette and Mike from Free Buffalo/New York, Alan, Gail and crew from WNY Coalition for Progress and our very own Pam and crew from Broadway Fillmore Alive and the Urban League of Buffalo. If I've forgotten anyone, I apologize.

It was a good day, all in all. Everyone had a good time and enjoyed some great jazz and blues by Gary, Ike and the guys from the Colored Musician's Club. These guys were really good and we hope to hook up with them for events in the very near future. Thanks guys, and thanks to all who helped make this event great!
