Now I might sound crazy but is there a way that you can buy the Passenger Platform Building. I know a person owns it but he doesn't take care of it. I walked backed there with my Grandpa, former NYC worker. We saw big holes in the fence. And tons of things destroyed. Also tons of thing riped out of the building. If you write a complant about that preson not taking ownership of that property he might lose it and you guys ccan have owner ship of that beautiful structure.

The passenger platforms are owned by Amtrak and rented (for a rumored 100 years) to the tenant who stores construction equipment on the property. The decorative elements from the passenger platforms were sold by Anthony Fedele when the bridge between the two sections was demolished in the early 80s. The rest of the damage has come at the hands of vandals - as you said, the fences are falling apart and it is not secure.

At this time we have no interest in acquiring the property, as we have too much on our hands already. We have discussed with Amtrak the possibility of moving the cement roof tiles from the passenger platforms to the main building to replace our broken tiles. They were open to the idea, but the cost of such a move is beyond our ability at this time. We have also discussed the possibility of having Amtrak make a stop at the building, to which they said it could be easily done.

I'm surprised you have no interest in that property. To tell you truth I would love to own that property. When me and my grandfather were walkng around pointing out where things were, he wanted that cool structure because he wants to do what you guys are doing now with the main structure. He would really love it to look better because he worked here.

What it comes down to is we simply don't have the resources to take on any more of the property. We still have to seal and reroof the baggage building. That could change in the future, and at some point a bridge across the tracks could reunite the 2 buildings once again. But at this time, we are not interested in acquiring it.
